Inside Line Promotions – CONCORD, N.C. (Nov. 13, 2019) – Dominic Scelzi will reunite with car owner Nick McColloch this Saturday for the final winged sprint car race of the season in California.

It’s been a little more than two years since the duo last teamed up and Scelzi is excited to ignite the partnership for a special show this weekend at Keller Auto Speedway in Hanford, Calif.

“The last time we got together we won,” he said. “The next time out we lost an engine in qualifying and didn’t get to race again. That was the end of 2017 and last year we weren’t able to get together. I’m excited to work with Nick and Kerry again. I enjoyed racing with them and at the time won the biggest race of my career with them.”

Scelzi is coming off a weekend in North Carolina where the World of Outlaws NOS Energy Drink Sprint Car Series season wrapped up during the Can-Am World Finals hosted by The Dirt Track at Charlotte. More than 50 of the top racers from around the country invaded the event. Scelzi qualified 12 th quickest in his group for the Friday show and 16th quickest in his group for Saturday’s program.

“We buried ourselves in qualifying,” he said. “For Friday night we didn’t time in every well. I’m not sure why because I felt like we had decent speed and made good laps.”

Scelzi started fourth, but quickly maneuvered into third place during a heat race on Friday.

“We got to third, which was the final lock-in spot to the feature, and I got slid through turns three and four,” he said. “I didn’t have a chance to get back to him because he drove away. That was it for that heat. In the Last Chance Showdown I was running seventh and racing with (Daryn) Pittman and Freddie (Rahmer) for a transfer into the feature. We got three wide on a restart and I was on the outside and ran out of room. It cut my right rear tire down.”

The night ended with a DNF. Scelzi moved forward both times he was on the track Saturday, advancing from sixth to fifth place in a heat race and from 13th to 10th in the Last Chance Showdown.

“Being in the first heat race on Saturday, the track was probably the wettest we’d seen all weekend,” he said. “We got one position on the start. It was one lane and you couldn’t pass anyone. In the Last Chance Showdown we got to seventh fairly quick. I restarted on the bottom and I couldn’t get a good start on the bottom both times I was down there. We lost some ground and didn’t get a transfer into the main event. We didn’t get the results we wanted so we’re hopeful this Saturday goes better in Hanford.”
