Inside Line Promotions – FRESNO, Calif. (Dec. 29, 2015) – A lot of money and pride is on the line at the 2nd annual Winter Heat Sprint Car Showdown, but it’s the experience that Dominic Scelzi is seeking as he heads into the marquee event at Cocopah Speedway.

Scelzi and his Roth Motorsports backed, family owned team will compete at the 3/8-mile oval in Somerton, Ariz., this Friday and Saturday – as well as next Tuesday and Jan. 8-9 – during the offseason’s premier winged sprint car event in the United States.

I think I’ll be able to go in there with the mindset of not having to worry about qualifying making or breaking your night.”

Another bonus is five races in less than two weeks at the same track, where Scelzi will make his debut.

“We have a very long list of things we’re going to try,” he said. “My expectation and goal is I’d like to make all the main events. I think that’d be a big win for our team. We’re going there to test and tune to figure out the things we felt we missed on last year. I feel like if we hit on something we should be in the hunt.”

The payout is also an advantage with Friday’s opener dolling out $12,000 to win and $1,000 to start. There is also a $10,000 points fund encompassing all five nights.

“I think it’s awesome what they’ve done,” he said. “This is a great way to race to stay fresh. It almost makes it like there is no offseason. I’m very excited to be a part of this.”
