Inside Line Promotions – PLACERVILLE, Calif. (May 15, 2017) – Dominic Scelzi is looking forward to his lone race this weekend at one of his favorite tracks.

Scelzi and his Roth Motorsports backed, family owned team will compete on Saturday at Thunderbowl Raceway in Tulare, Calif., with the King of the West-NARC Fujitsu Sprint Car Series.

“I love racing in Tulare,” he said. “It has always been one of my favorite tracks and I always look forward to any opportunity to compete there.”

Scelzi has been victorious at the bullring and he’s eyeing his first trip of the season to Victory Lane.

“We have a lot of great support on this team and it’s important to get them into the Winner’s Circle,” he said. “We’ve won in Tulare and we know how to get the job done. I think we have just as good of a shot as anyone this Saturday.”

Scelzi is coming off a frustrating weekend, which began on Friday at Keller Auto Speedway in Hanford, Calif., where he drove for Nick McColloch. The duo qualified 10th quickest overall before placing second in a heat race. That locked Scelzi into the 10th starting position in the main event.

“The track was hooked up and rough,” he said. “I moved up to seventh in about five laps. On a restart I hit a hole in turn one and upside down we went. It biked up and as soon as the car came down another guy hit the hole and got into me. It got the front end and wings so we were unable to restart.

“I felt like I had a top-three car. Early we were the only person able to run the bottom and not get tight. It was one of those unfortunate things. We improved as the night went on and that’s a positive.”

Scelzi, who was credited with an 18th-place result, wrapped up the weekend on Saturday at Placerville Speedway, where he drove his family owned race car during the King of the West-NARC Fujitsu Sprint Car Series event.

He timed in 17th quickest overall before ending seventh in a heat race. That lined him up on the inside of the ninth row for the main event.

“We got to 12th or 13th right away,” he said. “The track was extremely slick. As the race went we seemed to slow down more and more and we weren’t able to make any ground up so with a couple of laps to go we pulled off just to save equipment.”
